Best Institute for Learning Arabic is definitely DIFL- Faizal
My journey from a language student to an entrepreneur in Dubai
As an Indian jeweler, I always had a deep interest in the Arab world and their culture. However, I never had the opportunity to learn Arabic until I enrolled in the Dante Institute of Foreign Languages (DIFL). I still remember my first day at the institute when I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who introduced me to the Director of DIFL Priyanshu Sharma Sir who cast a spell at me with his charismatic aura at once! He guided me and instilled faith in me that I would be able to learn despite my educational background. This worked as a fuel and I immediately registered.
Overcoming Academic Challenges with a Practical Approach
My teacher Shoaib Sir was a patient and dedicated teacher who believed in a practical approach to learning a foreign language. He understood that my academic background was weak, but he encouraged me to keep trying and never give up. I was determined to learn Arabic, and I was willing to put in the effort to succeed.
The No-Book Method
During my first few weeks, I struggled to keep up with the pace of the class. The grammar was difficult to understand, and the pronunciation was a challenge. But the unique teaching method helped me to overcome these hurdles. They used a no-book method which they are known for, that made it easier to learn, and they encouraged me to practice speaking the language as much as possible itself in the class.
One day, during a class, we were discussing the different dialects of Arabic spoken in different parts of the Arab world. I found this particularly interesting, and I asked Sir if he had any tips on how to differentiate between the dialects. He smiled and said that the best way to learn was to immerse yourself in the culture and listen to native speakers as much as possible.
That evening, I went home and turned on the a Youtube Channel to watch an Arabic news channel. At first, I could barely understand a word, but as I continued to watch, I began to recognize some of the words and phrases that we had learned in class. It was a small victory, but it gave me the motivation to keep going.
Another time, Sir suggested that I try writing short stories. This was a daunting task, but I decided to give it a try. I started with a simple story about a man who lost his wallet in a busy market. It was a struggle to write the story in Arabic, but I felt a sense of accomplishment when I finished.
My daily study routine suggested by Priyanshu Sir
During my time learning the language, I had a daily study routine of one hour per day from Monday to Friday. I was determined to improve my language skills despite my poor academic background, and I knew that consistent practice was key to making progress.
I would typically spend the first few minutes of my study session reviewing vocabulary and grammar concepts from my textbook. I then moved on to listening and speaking exercises, either by practicing with a language partner or using online resources recommended by my instructor.
To reinforce my learning, I also set aside time each day to read Arabic news articles or watch videos. This helped me develop my reading and listening comprehension skills, as well as expose me to different dialects and accents.
Despite the challenges I faced in the beginning, I found that dedicating just one hour each day to my studies made a big difference in my progress. It allowed me to stay focused and consistent, and I was able to see improvement in my language skills over time. Thanks to my daily study routine and the practical approach of teaching, I was able to successfully set up my jewellery business in Dubai and continue to thrive to this day.
Moving to Dubai
As my proficiency improved, I began to gain more confidence in my ability to communicate with native speakers. I decided to put my newfound skills to the test by traveling to Dubai to set up my own jewellery business. This was a big risk, but I was determined to succeed.
Challenges in Dubai
My first few months in Dubai were challenging. The market was competitive, and I struggled to make connections with local suppliers and customers. But my ability to speak their language helped me to break down some of the barriers and build relationships with key players in the industry.
I remember one particular incident where my language skills came in handy. I was negotiating with a local supplier over the price of a shipment of diamonds. The supplier was a tough negotiator and was trying to get me to pay a higher price than I wanted. But I was able to use my linguistic knowledge to negotiate a fair price, and I walked away feeling proud of my achievement. It has been more than 11 years since I learned the language, and my business in Dubai is still thriving. I have built strong relationships with local suppliers and customers, and my ability to speak their language has been a key factor in my success.
Gratitude for my mentors
Looking back on my journey, I am grateful for the education and guidance I received at DIFL. Under the director Priyanshu Sharma Sir’s aegis, the teaching practical approach to teaching and the no-book method made all the difference in my ability to learn Arabic. He would monitor each and every class and kept motivating me to engrave my self confidence in myself. I would recommend DIFL to anyone looking to learn a foreign language, especially Arabic. They have a wonderful team from the directors to the teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Unique Teaching Method Helped me
Learning a foreign language is not easy, especially for someone with a weak academic background like myself. However, with the right approach and guidance, it is possible to achieve fluency and use it to make a meaningful impact on your personal and professional life.
I was fortunate that I found a supportive community of fellow learners and dedicated instructors who were passionate about teaching foreign languages. The institute’s emphasis on practical language skills and the new book method made learning easier and more enjoyable.
Today, I am proud to say that I am fluent, and I have used my language skills to build a successful business in Dubai. My experience at DIFL has been life-changing, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from some of the best language teachers in the world.
I would like to express my gratitude to them for providing me with the tools and resources to learn. My experience has been nothing short of amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to learn a foreign language.-
